Chemistry: Concepts & Practices™ is a comprehensive, standards-based introductory high school chemistry curriculum. Consists of a Teacher’s Guide and 20 individual Student Learning Experiences, collectively a full-year introduction to chemistry curriculum. Students develop scientific literacy, practice 21st-century problem-solving skills, and understand disciplinary core ideas mandated by state and national standards. The curriculum consists of 20 modular “Learning Experiences” that:

  • Offer a full year of chemistry instruction, integrating STEM and Common Core ELA support
  • Capture and sustain student interest with relevant, real-life case studies taken from the headlines
  • Are teacher and student tested

Originally conceived as part of the Foundation Science series, Chemistry: Concepts & Practices™ supports the performance expectations of the Next Generation Science Standards as well as gives students insight into how the content prepares them for life in the 21st century.

Chemistry: Concepts & Practices™ progresses important understandings about how people organize matter into substances and mixtures, the differences between physical and chemical change, and the connections among bonding, atomic arrangement, and the properties of materials. The curriculum also promotes the idea that an understanding of fundamental concepts in science facilitates the design of new technologies and products that improve the quality of life.
