Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lost too many caterpillars I ordered this item for the first time and ended up with 8 caterpillars, sadly I now only have one. Despite that setback, I've continued to watch the remaining survivor which has been a rewarding experience. Hoping next time around I'll have better success.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great product, low viability this year... This is the third year I have ordered this product for Energy Dynamics - a great lab, I wish more AP Bio teachers actually used it, or a variation of it. In the past, I have had 20-30 surviving caterpillars, and the students could barely keep up planting radishes to feed them and scooping up frass. This year I only have 9. Barely enough to mass. Just disappointed. We didn't do anything differently. Will order again, but will order two strips to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works! I get good results for the Energy Dynamics lab. Only problem that I keep having is the timing - mine are always a little early so have to be watchful and ready.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Butterfly Eggs I had 38 of the eggs hatch and only 2 have died so far! Great return for the investment; highly recommended.

Butterflies Color Your Students' World

  • Self-contained
  • Easy to set up and maintain
  • See the complete life cycle in just a few weeks

Address Multiple Life Science Topics

Painted lady butterflies are appropriate for all grade levels but especially effective for grades K–8. They enable students to observe complete metamorphosis, from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult butterfly. Students can then compare the butterfly life cycle to that of other animals or investigate how temperature affects insect development time. General life science topics can be addressed as well, including how form fits function and what organisms need to survive.

Committed to Quality

We are committed to producing quality, exclusive painted lady butterfly kits and cultures for educators. The hallmark of our commitment to quality is our highly trained scientific staff. They continually monitor butterfly production and work to improve our kits and cultures. And if you ever need assistance, their expertise is at your disposal. Our exclusive painted lady butterflies are cultured in the laboratory so they do not deplete natural populations, and they are backed by the Carolina Pledge: 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.
