Director of Marketing
We are seeking an experienced full-time Director of Marketing to provide leadership and direction in the development of the Company’s marketing programs by collaborating with the various sales, marketing, product management functions and resources outside the Company. This position is responsible for designing and implementing initiatives that deliver budgeted revenues and profits for the operating divisions.

Duties include:
  • Designing and implementing appropriate product and sales initiatives to achieve the Company’s core product revenue and growth objectives.
  • Overseeing all aspects of the of-line marketing program. Primary focus is to manage the customer acquisition, retention, and customer re-activation activities. Developing seasonal and event-based marketing communications to drive the desired response from the intended audience. Responsibility for the results and profitability of these programs including the development and measurement of all direct marketing strategies. Producing offers and messages consistent with the Company brand.
  • Developing, testing, and measuring the sales initiatives for the Inside Sales channel. Responsible for programming marketing initiatives to improve market penetration and sales results with selected accounts and customer segments.
  • Collaborating with the Director of e-Commerce to develop and execute programs leveraging the web channel in support of the Company growth strategies.
  • Developing a deep understanding of the Company’s market segments. Conducting regular opportunity analysis to identify new growth initiatives. Executing market research as directed and establishing a variety of information sources to inform the business unit of trends and opportunities.
  • Participating in the development of advertising campaigns and messaging in support of the Company’s marketing strategies. Collaborating with the Advertising staff to develop appropriate and impactful messages.
  • Directing the tradeshow, workshop, and professional development programs.
  • Coordinating with the product management staff and the marketing staff to execute promotional activities. Managing the cooperative advertising opportunities and evaluating and supporting contribution activities.
Requirements include a MBA degree; 10 years of sales and marketing responsibilities with management of at least 25 staff members; consumer product experience with direct marketing campaigns from inception to results analysis; an in-depth knowledge of print and electronic communications and a well developed understanding of e-Commerce; market research and data analysis skills are a plus; and paying attention to detail and having the ability to manage multiple assignments. Technologist
We are seeking a Technologist for our Biotechnology Department. Under the supervision of the Department Head, the Technologist will assemble kits and prepare media and other related materials for sale to the education market by performing the following duties.

Essential duties:
  • Assists in overall effort to provide timely fulfillment of customer's orders with high quality kits, reagents, laboratory apparatus, and other related products.
  • Reads and interprets checklists.
  • Maintains filing system for checklists.
  • Prepares and dispenses media, blood products, and reagents, using sterile technique as required.
  • Monitors inventory levels. Convey any requirements to the supervisor.
  • Separates, counts, sorts, combines, and assembles component materials to be packaged and sold as kits.
  • Packages items for re-sale as directed.
  • Receives and put away bulk inventory items, resale items, and kit components.
  • Conveys any and all product needs and back order concerns to the supervisor.
  • Reports daily production totals to the supervisor. The method of reporting, written or oral, to be determined by the supervisor.
  • Serves as back up for sorting and writing up customer returns.
  • Maintains extensive system of fish tanks.
  • Prepares fish and fish eggs for shipping.
  • Works with animal tissue including but not limited to pig bladders and rabbit muscle.
  • Assists other departments as needed.
  • Assists with genetic corn pollination and harvest.
  • Some field collecting may be required during seasonal rush times.

Professional Development Manager
We are seeking an experienced educator to provide leadership and direction in the Company’s effort to expose and train teachers in the use of the Company’s products. This position is responsible for the design and the presentation of education content using any of the sales and marketing communication channels. Primary responsibilities include the development and implementation of the workshop and professional development programs.

Duties include:
  • Responsibility for the Company’s workshop program including the creation of the courses, scheduling of presentations and ensuring the quality of the presentations and presenters.
  • Developing a deep understanding of the interests and needs of our customers as related to our product workshop program. Designs or arranges for educators to develop relevant workshop courses and articles to pull our products through the various sales and marketing channels.
  • Collaborating with Product Managers in the workshop development process. Emphasis is placed on presenting our proprietary products utilizing exciting approaches that integrate current pedagogical best practices.
  • Recruiting and training well-credentialed presenters. Utilizing NPS style survey techniques, only the most effective presenters will be utilized and retained. Presenters must have an exceptional ability to connect with their audience and provide exciting and compelling sessions.
  • Managing a network of educators to assist and provide guidance to the Company regarding product and service development.
  • Working closely with the Tradeshow Manager to coordinate the various trade and industry events. Collaborates with the editorial and content functions to provide educational expertise with our marketing communication efforts.
Requirements include a bachelor's degree in Education, an advanced degree or National Board Certified is preferred; 5-10 years of classroom education experience with a preference for life science teaching; strong computer skills; experience in developing presentations for educators; exposure to e-learning, video, and other electronic communications is helpful; and the interpersonal skills to identify and attract high quality presenters of science education content. Buyer - Living Biology
We are seeking a full-time Buyer for our Living Biology Department. Must be able to work occasional weekends. Performs activities involved with procuring goods such as raw materials, living materials, equipment, parts, and supplies for the Live Biology group by performing the following duties:

Duties include:
  • Works with departments to plan and buy quality materials in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Interacts with department personnel regarding status of shipments, backorders, shortages, breakages, etc.
  • Prepares purchase orders and receives materials into computer system.
  • Maintains records in computer software.
  • Reviews and updates information in software in order to place orders, maintain stock, and help department managers control inventory.
  • Reviews requisitions and confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with quality control personnel, users, and vendors, and other to determine source of trouble.
  • Works with accounts payable to setup vendors and ensure timely payment.
  • Participates in weekly supply pick ups using company vehicle.
  • Assists with other departmental duties as needed in an effort to fulfill orders for department’s products sold to the educational market.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Editor-Proofreader
We are seeking a full-time Editor-Proofreader to provide proofreading, editing, and copy-writing support and to maintain high standards of quality while working with our internal customers and external partners to accurately present the Company’s products and services in advertising and marketing communications.

Duties include:
  • Proofreading and editing product copy for the AgilityCMS database and web catalog.
  • Working with internal product staff and external partners to develop and write copy for creative marketing and advertising projects.
  • Proofreading assigned projects in production to ensure they meet established company and professional standards, contain correct information, and conform to project parameters originally given to Advertising.
  • Understanding Advertising’s production workflow, following department guidelines, and meeting established schedules.
  • Communicating effectively with our internal customers and external partners to ensure accuracy, quality, and timeliness in all copy and publications.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or communications and three years’ experience in proofreading, editing and writing. A background in a science field or education would be beneficial. Director of Publications
We are seeking a Director of Publications to manage the publications team, comprised of editors and designers, to support the development of curriculum and marketing campaigns by aiding in the creation, editing, proofing, design, and layout of curriculum content. The Director of Publications works directly with other Directors, inside and outside of the Curriculum Division, and their staff, through the complete life-cycle of publication projects. Additionally, the Director of Publications is responsible for direct and indirect communication with curriculum partners.

Essential Duties:
  • Manages workflow of edit, design, layout and printing in development of new and existing curriculum programs.
  • Manages workflow of edit, design, layout and printing in development of promotional materials (marketing and advertisement pieces) related to curriculum programs supporting efforts initiated by program managers and sales managers.
  • Manage workflow of edit, design, layout and printing in development of adoption (state specific) materials (including correlations to state standards) supporting efforts initiated by program managers and sales managers.
  • Works with the e-commerce department to post new, and edit existing, content to the www.carolinacurriculum.com website.
  • Works with the advertising department to coordinate the development of curriculum publications.
  • Works with other Curriculum Directors to track sales and manage expenditures within the Curriculum Division.
  • Communicates with curriculum partners regarding edit, design, and layout of existing, or newly developed, curriculum programs.

Science Educational Product Developer
We are seeking a recent college graduate or former science teacher to create innovative, quality educational products for elementary through college level science courses. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively and have good communication skills to conduct high-quality workshops demonstrating product lines to education professionals. Some travel is required to attend educational science tradeshows and coordinate field tests of our products. Duties include:
  • Assisting Company departments in their product development programs by providing advice, technical support, writing, editing, design, field testing, and other needed resources
