Account Manager
We are seeking an Account Manager to provide support services for our Curriculum products. He or she manages selected customer accounts, fostering customer loyalty and Company goodwill. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detailed oriented with strong clerical and communication skills. The Account Manager works primarily by phone, fax, and email; however, some overnight travel may be required..
Duties include:
- Collecting and distributing mail
- Ordering office supplies
- Preparing material packets for special events like meetings, presentations, workshops, and institutes
- Assembling and maintaining inventory of products and promotional materials to be utilized at presentations, workshops, and trade shows
- Performing clerical work

Cultures Technologist
We are seeking a Cultures Technologist to assist in the daily activities associated with the development, production, maintenance, and sales of cultures.
Duties include:
- Assisting in the development of new proprietary products
- Assisting in the timely fulfillment of customers' orders
- Inoculating cultures (such as algae, fungi, protozoa, plants, bacteria, viruses, and possible pathogens) to insure sufficient inventory for orders
- Maintaining cultures of identified microorganisms in prescribed or standard media, controlling factors such as moisture, aeration, temperature, light, and nutrition
- Performing quality control duties to maintain cultures' sterility and purity
- Communicating with customers to solve problems
- Offering advice on the proper use of materials
- Assisting in maintaining a notebook of standard operating procedures
- Assisting in periodic inventories
- Conducting workshops demonstrating proper classroom use of existing and new product lines
Requirements include a college degree in a biological science, with an emphasis on protozoa and/or algae; a valid driver’s license with clean driving record; good manual dexterity skills; ability to do physical labor (occasionally heavy) in a fast-paced, detail-oriented production environment; ability to work overtime and weekends when needed; and the ability to perform a wide variety of other tasks. Previous lab experience working with microscopes or other lab equipment is a plus.

Organizational Development Specialist/Facilitator
(Exempt Full-Time Employee or Independent Contractor-Consultant)
We are seeking a Specialist/Facilitator of Organizational Development to provide leadership with the ability to influence and guide senior leaders. This individual should possess expertise in the following areas: organizational design; change management; coaching; facilitation; succession planning; performance management; learning and development; team effectiveness; and strategic planning.
Duties include:
- Providing internal consultation on organizational redesign and change efforts
- Collecting and reviewing qualitative and quantitative data to identify opportunities to improve organizational structure

Publications Designer
We are seeking a Publications Designer to produce technical publications, kit instructions, teacher's manuals, and student guides that support our products and services.
Duties include:
- Designing in-house publications
- Designing, formatting, and producing product-related literature such as instruction sheets, teacher’s manuals, and student guides
- Designing printed products such as posters and games
- Receiving manuscripts and illustrations from the editors, scanning or keying in text, if necessary; and using electronic publishing (QuarkXPress® or InDesign®) and art software to merge text and graphics
- Creating art using electronic art software and/or working with the artist and photographer to create art and photography
- Preparing page proofs, proofing own work, and making sure each production stage is proofed by another staff member
- Checking bluelines and/or color proofs for accuracy
- Interacting with other staff members to make necessary corrections
- Interacting with other staff members to determine most efficient print quantities and specifications
- Supplying electronic files, final film, or camera-ready art to printer
- Conducting press checks to ensure quality and consistency of printed piece
- Conducting follow-ups with other staff members to ensure quality and timely completion of job
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, 1 to 2 years’ experience in graphic design and/or graphics training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Science background is helpful.
Candidate must have the ability to operate a computer for word processing, email, art illustration, and electronic publishing software such as Microsoft® Word, QuarkXPress®, Adobe® Illustrator®, and Photoshop®.

Regional Curriculum Sales Manager
We seek an experienced Sales Manager to increase revenue through building effective relationships with current and prospective customers in the eastern Great Lakes region of the United States, which includes western Pennsylvania and upstate New York. The ideal candidate will be located near Pittsburgh or Buffalo.
Sales Managers call on current and prospective customers throughout their assigned regions, identifying state and local adoption opportunities for the Company’s hands-on science curriculums, Science and Technology for Children® (STC®) and Science and Technology Concepts for Middle Schools™ (STC/MS™), developed specifically for students in kindergarten through 8th grade.
Successful candidates must be able to work independently and collaboratively. They must also be team players who can effectively communicate and work with the Company’s sales staff, product managers, and outside curriculum consultants to identify and seek adoption opportunities.
Frequent overnight travel (approximately 75%) is required.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, or science
- Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in sales or sales management
- Prior experience with and complete understanding of curriculum instruction and the adoption process for curriculum-based educational materials
- Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills

STC® Elementary Program Manager
We are seeking a former science teacher or recent college graduate for this entry-level marketing position managing the marketing and sales efforts for Science and Technology for Children® (STC®), a hands-on, inquiry-based science curriculum used in kindergarten through 6th grade.
Duties include:
- Co-Managing all aspects of the STC® Elementary Program
- Developing and implementing the marketing plan for the STC® Elementary Program
- Creating, implementing, tracking, and reporting on short- and long-term sales goals, budgets, forecasts, inventory maintenance, and pricing for the STC® Elementary Program
- Working with the Curriculum staff and other employees to develop the strategic message for the STC® Elementary Program

- Working with the Curriculum staff to build and maintain relationships with customers and potential customers
- Being responsible for the business relationships with organizations, corporations, colleges, and universities involving the STC® Elementary Program
- Working with the Director of Curriculum, Curriculum Publications and Development, and the National Science Resource Center on the continuous revision and updating of the STC® Elementary Program
- Developing and conducting marketing presentations when necessary
Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in education (preferably math or science) or marketing, a minimum of 2 years experience in marketing, purchasing, or materials distribution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; must have excellent writing, teaching, presentation, and organizational skills to conduct professional development workshops; have the ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office; and have knowledge of graphics and electronic presentation software (such as Quark Xpress, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft PowerPoint Publisher, and InDesign).
