Director of Publications
We are seeking a Director of Publications to manage the publications team, comprised of editors and designers, to support the development of curriculum and marketing campaigns by aiding in the creation, editing, proofing, design, and layout of curriculum content. The Director of Publications works directly with other Directors, inside and outside of the Curriculum Division, and their staff, through the complete life-cycle of publication projects. Additionally, the Director of Publications is responsible for direct and indirect communication with curriculum partners.

Essential Duties:

  • Manages workflow of edit, design, layout and printing in development of new and existing curriculum programs.
  • Manages workflow of edit, design, layout and printing in development of promotional materials (marketing and advertisement pieces) related to curriculum programs supporting efforts initiated by program managers and sales managers.
  • Manage workflow of edit, design, layout and printing in development of adoption (state specific) materials (including correlations to state standards) supporting efforts initiated by program managers and sales managers.
  • Works with the e-commerce department to post new, and edit existing, content to the www.carolinacurriculum.com website.
  • Works with the advertising department to coordinate the development of curriculum publications.
  • Works with other Curriculum Directors to track sales and manage expenditures within the Curriculum Division.
  • Communicates with curriculum partners regarding edit, design, and layout of existing, or newly developed, curriculum programs.
  • Performs other administrative duties as required.

Biotechnology Technician
We are seeking a Biotechnology Technician to prepare media and other biotechnology related materials for educational use in science classrooms and laboratories.
Duties include:
  • Assisting in overall effort to provide timely fulfillment of customer’s orders with high quality biotechnology kits, reagent systems, purified DNA, laboratory apparatus, and other related products.
  • Separating, counting, sorting, combining, and assembling component materials to be packaged and sold as kits.
  • Preparing, dispensing, and diluting sterile media and reagents.
  • Packaging resale items for shipment by placing items in boxes or cartons, adding protective packing material, and taping or shrink-wrapping the boxes to ensure the safe shipment of materials.
  • Recording amounts of items received, sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and reporting any problems to the supervisor.
Requirements include an associate’s degree in chemistry or a high school diploma plus three years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; good manual dexterity skills; the ability to use equipment such as digital scale and balance, dispensing machine, and micropipettor; and the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Regional Curriculum Sales Manager
We seek an experienced sales representative to increase revenue by building effective relationships with current and prospective customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan. The ideal candidate will be located in western Pennsylvania or eastern Ohio.Sales Managers call on current and prospective customers throughout their assigned regions, identifying state and local adoption opportunities for the Company’s K-12 inquiry-based science curriculums.The successful candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively. He/she also must be a team player who can effectively communicate and work with the Company’s sales staff, product managers, and outside curriculum consultants to identify, seek, and close adoption opportunities.Frequent overnight travel (approximately 75%) is required.To qualify, you must have:
  • A bachelor’s degree in education (preferably science or math) or business/marketing
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Strong presentation, relationship-building, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical and business skills
  • A proven track record in outside sales with demonstrated success in reaching sales goal
  • 2–3 years' experience in educational publishing sales is preferred
  • 3–5 years' teaching experience, preferably in science, will be considered in lieu of sales experience

Science Educational Product Developer
We are seeking a recent college graduate or former science teacher to create innovative, quality educational products for elementary through college level science courses. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively and have good communication skills to conduct high-quality workshops demonstrating product lines to education professionals. Some travel is required to attend educational science tradeshows and coordinate field tests of our products. Duties include:
  • Assisting Company departments in their product development programs by providing advice, technical support, writing, editing, design, field testing, and other needed resources
  • Searching for educator-developed products outside the Company
  • Promoting a consistent image and quality in the Company’s proprietary products
  • Collaborating with marketing and production departments on product ideas, development, and needs
  • Keeping abreast of trends and changes in science education, science standards, and courses of study

Systems Administrator
We are seeking a full-time Systems Administrator to install new software releases, perform system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems. This person installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots server hardware and software applications in addition to supporting network storage needs and performing backup and recovery tasks.

Duties include:
  • Configuring and maintaining Windows servers
  • Offering technical support to the Company’s staff as needed
  • Supporting Windows server hardware and software
  • Performing backup and recovery tasks as well as troubleshooting backup failures
  • Managing Microsoft's Active Directory as it relates to hardware, users, groups and policies
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating information technology systems operations
  • Supporting storage needs, troubleshooting network storage problems, performing updates and general maintenance
  • Maintaining technical expertise by keeping abreast of the latest technology advances
  • Administering, maintaining, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the Company’s operating systems for disaster recovery
  • Supporting LAN/WAN connectivity
To qualify we require:
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of experience with server hardware and software
  • 4+ years of experience in network storage support
  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration
  • Must be skilled and formally trained with Microsoft server operating systems, desktop operating systems, and on IBM server hardware and storage area networks
  • A+ Certification
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)
