Carolina Biological Supply Company recognizes excellence in science education by sponsoring 9 annual academic scholarships and awards. Carolina honors educators and students who have exemplified strong leadership and academic achievement along with an evidenced passion for science.

"It’s a privilege to be able to recognize and honor exemplary science teachers and assist students that have a passion for science,” said David Heller, Director of Product Development at Carolina.  “These scholarships and awards are just one way that we can show our appreciation to those top educators and science students, and share our excitement for scientific discovery."

Carolina sponsors the following scholarships and awards for science educators and students:

  • Alamance Community College: AAS in Biotechnology
    A scholarship for need-based students enrolled in the AAS Biotech program


  • Association of Southeastern Biologists (ASB): ASB Meritorious Teaching Award
    The ASB’s most prestigious award honoring those who have excelled in their commitment to excellence in teaching and relaying their love and passion for biology to others


  • McCauley Family Learning Center: MFLC "Helping Hand" Scholarship Program
    Scholarship for educational services to disadvantaged families in Alamance County, North Carolina


  • National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT): BioClub Student Award
    A textbook scholarship for outstanding student members of an NABT BioClub who are graduating seniors and have been accepted to a 2- or 4-year college/university


  • North Carolina Biotechnology Center: K-12 Teacher Support: Laboratory Supplies Program
    Cash award for  Biotechnology Center workshop graduates to purchase biotechnology lab supplies from Carolina.


  • North Carolina Science Leadership Association (NCSLA): The Herman Gatling for Service to Science Education
    Cash award recognizing science educators in North Carolina who have provided outstanding leadership and service at the district, regional, and state levels


  • The Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE):
    Award I: Outstanding Science Teacher Educator of the Year Cash award to recognize the individual achievements and contributions of ASTE members in the first 10 years of their career
    Award V: Implications of Research for Educational Practice
    Cash award to educators who write a manuscript that: a) identifies a persistent and recurring problem in the practice of science teacher education, and b) develops strategies to resolve the problem based upon a comprehensive synthesis of relevant research that interprets theory and research for practice


  • Wake Forest University: Carolina Biological Supply Company Research Award
    Cash award recognizing the best undergraduate research project by a junior or senior major
