Carolina Biological Supply Company is the proud sponsor of a team that participated in the 2009 Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure® on June 13 at Meredith College in Raleigh.
The 19-member team raised $2,200 in support of breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment programs for the 13 surrounding counties in the Triangle. Carolina is active in the local community, but this is the first year it has sponsored a team for the Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure®.
"Breast cancer is close to our hearts here at Carolina. Many of us have been affected by it at some point, whether personally, in our families, or through friends,” said Caroline Lalla, Carolina’s team captain. “Carolina is happy to support this worthy cause knowing that every dollar raised helps us get closer to finding a cure.”
The Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure® is the largest footrace in North Carolina. In 2009, the race had more than 23,000 walkers, runners, and spectators and raised over $1.75 million in the fight against breast cancer. Up to 75% of the funds raised stays in the Triangle and supports approximately 25 community programs. The remaining 25% supports cutting-edge research at the national level.
