Tips on
Propagating Viruses

Select a host that is genetically susceptible, such as a strain
of bacteria known to support the growth of the bacteriophage being studied. |

Be sure the host cells have high metabolic activity so they are
physiologically susceptible as well. |

• |
Bacteria in logarithmic growth, young insect larvae, and newly expanded primary leaves are excellent hosts for the appropriate viruses. |
