Carolina is pleased to offer sales tax exemption on online orders for qualified customers. By default, our website will charge tax on online orders. We offer two, convenient options for online tax exemption (below). Please note that all customers requesting tax exemption must have a tax certificate on file with us. Details and downloadable forms can be found at the bottom of this page.
- Option 1 - Set Up a Carolina Online Account
If you are a new online customer and your organization is tax exempt, call us at 800.334.5551 (7am to 8pm, ET, Mon-Fri) to set up a custom login (using your email address). When you log in, tax will automatically be removed from your order (at the final step of checkout). When you call, we can also enable your login for purchase order payments and contract price discounts, if qualified.
- Option 2 - Guest Checkout
If you are a new online customer and do not wish to have a login on our site, please enter your Sales Tax Exemption Number in the "Shipping Instructions" field during step 2 of checkout. Place your order, and we will review your information and remove tax from your total before processing the order. If we cannot find a tax exemption certificate on file, a Customer Service Representative may contact you for a copy.
When shopping online, we must have your institution's tax exemption certificate on file.
We only require one certificate per institution, so if you are affiliated with a current exempt customer, Customer Service can attach the certificate on file to your account.
- If you do not have a certificate, select your state in the box below and a PDF will open in a new window. If you can't find your state's form, download our multi-state form.
- On the certificate, reference your account number, and fax it to 336.538.6326 or mail it to the address below. Important: Please allow 1 business day for us to complete the tax exemption administration. If you are ready to place your online order now, please do so, and contact us afterwards so we can remove the tax.
