Evolution and Antibacterial Resistance
Bacteria can adapt to environmental changes and develop resistance to
drugs that were once toxic to them. It's a serious problem for health
care providers and patients. This discussion of antibacterial resistance
can help you explain the basics to your students and suggests 2 kits for
further inquiry. See the link below for more.

Using Histology Slides to Enhance Mammalian Dissection
Tissues seemingly identical to the naked eye often reveal clear
differences under a microscope. That's why it's important to integrate
prepared microscope slides with a mammalian dissection. Here are some
ideas you can use to enhance student learning with slides during your
next dissection lesson. Take a look at the link below for more. |

Understanding Familiar Units: What Is a Light Year?
Here's an activity that gets your students moving while they practice
measuring and manipulating units. By putting time and distance traveled
into units students can directly relate to, the abstract concept of the
light year is more easily understood. Learn more about this inexpensive,
fun activity at the link below. |

Teacher 2 Teacher Tips |
|
Teacher Tip:
Easy Strainer
Need an easy, inexpensive way to strain water from field collection containers
or an aquarium? Here's how to do it.
|
1. |
Cut a piece of cheesecloth slightly larger than the opening of your lab
sink. |
|
2. |
Place the cheesecloth over the sink and tape it securely at the edges. |
|
3. |
Pour the water through the cheesecloth, which will block any detritus and
prevent it from clogging your sink. |
|
4. |
Discard the cheesecloth and detritus. |
