No matter what topic you are teaching, we have a Wisconsin Fast Plants® kit for you. From plant biology and environmental science to genetics and even mathematics, these teaching materials can have a dramatic impact on

Incredibly fast results
Working with plants in your classroom does not mean waiting weeks for results. The Wisconsin Fast Plants® name is appropriate because you can see measurable changes in the plants each day. For middle school students we recommend the Wisconsin Fast Plants® Nutrition Study Kit. Students investigate the effects of different nutrient levels of a slow-release N-P-K fertilizer in 40 days. Not only will your students be amazed at the changes that occur, you will also be able to complete an entire activity in one semester’s time!

Student friendly
Wisconsin Fast Plants® are student-friendly organisms that not only take learning to another level, but are also fun to work with. For a class of 24 advanced high school or college students working in groups of 3, we offer our Wisconsin Fast Plants® Genetics of Hairy Plants Kit. This kit provides each student with the opportunity to study the genetics of an easily scored quantitative trait.

By simultaneously growing parental, F1, and F2 generations, students can study and measure quantitative variation, gene action, heritability, correlated traits, and more. Planning is the key to a pleasurable and enriching learning experience, as this investigation requires 55 to 100 days to complete. Additionally, it has the potential to open up doors to many extension investigations.

Mendelian genetics
If you want to provide your students with an authentic exposure to the world of Mendelian genetics, then our Wisconsin Fast Plants® Monohybrid Genetics Kit is the perfect choice for your classroom. Through growing and pollinating F1 hybrid plants to produce F2 seed, this simple investigation can help your students make the connection between Mendel’s law of segregation and inheritance of dominant and recessive traits. Although the plants have a superfast generation cycle, it is still important to allow about 55 days to obtain the expected results for this investigation.
