College. While chemistry might traditionally be taught in a lab, students can now explore chemistry outside the lab with this introductory laboratory kit for distance learning. It covers the principles of chemistry, from the scientific method to stoichiometry, chemical reactions, and kinetics. The 12 hands-on investigations in this kit were selected from Carolina’s most popular lab kits. Every component of the kit was tested in a non-laboratory setting for reliability and safety.
College. This kit is designed to be used in a college-level distance learning class and does not come with lab instructions. The 12 hands-on investigations in the Carolina™ Science Distance Learning: Principles of Chemistry Kit teach both fundamental chemistry concepts and essential laboratory skills. Chromatography, calorimetry, titrations, and observing chemical reactions are all safely performed in a home lab setting. These investigations were carefully selected after Carolina researched and analyzed numerous course syllabi from community colleges and major universities. We chose topics and laboratory investigations taught in a majority of these programs, to give students in your online chemistry laboratory course the same experience as countless other college chemistry students. These lab activities have been designed to engage the students, maximize deep learning, and promote student success.
Each investigation was also developed to account for the special requirements of performing labs in a home setting. Additional testing was conducted in non-laboratory settings to ensure students can obtain consistent, reliable results without using expensive laboratory equipment and supplies. Safety and disposal issues were also addressed in the development of each investigation.
The Principles of Chemistry Kit comes with an Equipment Kit, which contains basic laboratory supplies used in several investigations, and a Safety Kit, which provides goggles, gloves, and laboratory apron. Needed but not included items are common household materials such as scissors, tape, markers, tap water, and timers (e.g., cell phone), etc. This distance learning kit is complete and will allow your students to quickly and easily start their laboratory experience.
