Living Organism Care Information

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wingless fruit flies Arrived on time. Healthy, robust culture. Using them to feed praying mantid nymphs. Hard to find good cultures in this area so I buy these and the culture kit and medium to keep cultures going.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what was needed The culture arrived with at least a dozen or so live flies and quite a lot of pupae. I immediately moved the live flies into another container with 'food'. Two weeks later I have just started a third, much larger, container with flies still from the original culture (pupae having 'hatched' out) and the second culture has a large number of pupae which are starting to 'hatch' also. I breed some fairly rare fish and the fruit flies are needed as part of their 'conditioning diet'. With some care and I can see no reason why I shouldn't have a plentiful supply of drosophilia as long as I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product I ordered some of these fruit flies sometime in fall of 2010. The flies arrived in great condition and i had several viable adult flies in good condition. Many of the flies were dead, but that is expected. Even if all the flies had arrived dead, the vials sent had adequate larvae that all i would have had to do would be to wait 2 weeks for new pupae to emerge. I think the previous reviewer has never had experience with culturing fruit flies. I will certainly purchase these again if i need wingless flies again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from They were DOA My flies were dead on arrival. This is my second Carolina product and it will be my last. My praying mantis egg cases were delivered without notice (it was stated that I would be contacted 2 days before their arrival) and they sat in my apartment manager's office for 5 days. Only one of them hatched as well. I am not satisfied with Carolina.
