Rated 5 out of 5 by from arrived alive, thrived they arrived alive and I set them up in an aquarium. They started thriving all over the bananas and attracted winged fruit flies which they interbred with making crinkle winged and long winged and double winged, and other mutants. We had days of counting marking and organizing fruit flies. I hope to have a giant colony intime for the praying mantises when they hatch...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hardy flies, great for feeding small animals These fruit flies are great because they are unable to fly. They breed quickly and you get hundreds per jar. To extend life I add a small spoonful of peach or banana baby food inside, it gets the maggots growing quicker and the adult flies eat this food too. I do suggest to open the container each day if left closed too long it smells bad and the flies die. I did an experiment by accident and had these in a container outside exposed to wild fruit flies, they actually bred and produced flying offspring, just in case anyone was wondering what would happen. They are great food for small animals like froglets, toadlets, anoles, praying mantis, fish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product unless they come infected with mites I had 6 vials of these fruit flies all die in 2 weeks. When I called to complain, I was basically told it was my fault for not changing them into new vials. In the end, I got a partial refund that didn't even cover the shipping cost of replacement vials. These new vials have lasted 3 weeks and are still going strong. I guess you don't get a full refund if they send you flies that are of poor quality.
