This compact kit provides a simple, economical, nontoxic method of testing well water or naturally flowing water for 8 basic water quality parameters: coliform bacteria, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), nitrate, pH, phosphate, temperature, and turbidity.

Overview

Simple, illustrated, bilingual (English/Spanish) instructions ensure accurate results. Kit comes packed in screw-lid canister and includes liquid crystal thermometer, turbidity measuring scale, labware, and reagents for 3 coliform bacteria tests and 10 tests for each of the other water quality factors.

Fun Earth Day demonstration We used this for an Earth Day demonstration where small groups of students would go to a variety of stations. I had my best student man this station, and it was very popular. We had previously collected some water from the near-by river (too early to get good O2 samples, though, and then the kids got the idea to also test sink, toilet and drinking water. The student who ran it thanked me afterwards for the opportunity to do that. May 7, 2011

Excellent for Science Fair! This kit is perfect for middle school students looking for an eco-friendly science fair project. The kit comes in a compact container that is easy to transport. Incredibly Useful!!! The LaMotte Green Water Quality Monitoring Kit is one of the most useful Water Quality Test Kits I've ever used. Coming into Environmental Education from a position as a lab manager I'm impressed with the quality of the reagents in this kit, the long shelf life is especially impressive. At our facility we use this kit with students ranging from middle school to high school. We have the kids run tests in streams out in the middle of the woods as well as our education pond. We've had no problems with the students following the directions provided and successfully running the tests. We would like a few more tests with each kit to be truly economical but overall we really like this product. November 13, 2009
