$55.00 - $159.00 View Details

Grade 9-College. During a car crash investigation, John Wayne Gretsky presents a bite mark on his arm as an alibi, claiming he was bitten in a bar fight. Students determine if his bite is from a bar patron or, maybe, a car crash victim! Students learn the basics of forensic odontology, then cast their teeth in wax and apply forensic techniques to identify the teeth. They develop objective criteria for bite-marks analysis and use them to determine the origin of the bite mark on John Wayne's arm.

Grade 9–College. During a car crash investigation, John Wayne Gretsky presents a bite mark on his arm as an alibi, claiming he was bitten in a bar fight. Your students must determine if his bite is from a bar patron or, maybe, a car crash victim! After learning the basics of forensic odontology, students cast their teeth in wax and apply forensic techniques to identify the teeth.

Each student then develops a personal set of objective criteria for bite-marks analysis. These criteria are used as students attempt to determine the origin of the bite mark in a photo of John Wayne's arm. Was it made by any wax cast they have to compare - including a cast from the car crash victim? Note: Kit can be shipped and stored at room temperature.
