Living Organism Care Information

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hornworms are important to our ecosystem! I know some people found there is not enough food for them, you can feed them potato, wild nightshade, eggplant, and tomato leaves if you have those growing. You can also feed sliced up tomatoes with artificial diet. You can buy plastic critter keepers from pet stores and fill with non-fertilizer potting soil for pupation. Once pupated, pupa can be placed in large cage with places to climb to expand wings when hatched. Hawkmoths (the adults) are important pollinators of deep shaped flowers, so although caterpillars are pests the adults are still needed for pollination of certain flowers. I release my moths around june in the wild, I plan ahead when to order to raise them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Generally good This was a great purchase. The only problem I had was that there wasn't enough food or a big enough container included to successfully raise them to the pupa stage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Price, Great Product Nice product this is. We studied the Tobacco Hornworm and the devastation it can cause on plants. The larvae literally could strip a tomato plant down to nothing, it was amazing to see the ravenous appetites. I would highly recommend this product and tie-in with the book "The Very Hungry Caterpilalr".
