Inquiries in Science®: Reconstructing Atomic Theory
Grades 912. Students “time travel” through history to simulate past experiments and explore how critical discoveries shaped and modified modern atomic theory. They use models to describe atomic structure, learn how to use different atomic representations, and practice writing the electron configuration of an element using information from the periodic table. Applying their knowledge of atomic models, students finish the activity by creating detailed descriptions of a representation of an atom.
