Easy to Use The bottled media is easy to use. I am very pleased with how well it grows the bacteria we are working with. April 11, 2012
Great for learning about microbiology I used this product when teaching about bacteria and microbiology to the students. The students loved swabbing everything and using the nutrient agars to see what will grow. They learned a lot and had so much fun. September 23, 2009
Pathogens in the Environment Lab We use nutrient agar in the glass bottles every year to pour plates for our Pathogens in the Environment lab. We heat them, with the caps slightly loosened, in hot water baths. We find that the glass bottles work much better than plastic for seeing "ghosts" (the un-melted "globs" of agar). We can pour about 7 plates per 125 ml bottle of agar. The only thing that is inconvenient (besides waiting for the agar to melt - unavoidable!) is the labels get all wet and consequently peel off and float around the hot water bath. Would it be possible to look into somehow stamping the product information on the bottle or perhaps making a label that can be easily removed before placing the bottle in the hot water bath? Just a thought. June 9, 2009
