For a class of 30 students. An amazing experiment that tests the ability of sperm to detect and swim to a chemical signal (positive chemotaxis). Using sperm released from 12- to 18-day-old C-FERN® gametophyte cultures, students document the responses to a series of test solutions. All manipulations and observations can be made using a stereomicroscope at 12x or higher with transmitted (bottom) illumination.

This is an accessory kit that can be used with all other C-FERN® cultures (not included in this kit). For separate cultures, the highly male (him1) stock of spores is recommended. Experiment time is 1/2 to 1 hour, not including culture time. With instructions.
