Dig into Soil Science with Carolina's Soil Kits ! Carolina's inquiry-based soil kits provide the materials for students to explore topics such as formation, chemistry, morphology, and productivity. Students then solidify their learning as they use local soils to explore the world around them. Carolina kits offer more than a box of stuff with instructions - To make sure they are easy to use, all kits include extensive background information - more than a typical textbook - for both teacher and students. Our kits also are correlated to the National Science Education Standards and include a pacing guide, safety information, extension activities, and links to additional resources. Carolina realizes that the study of environmental topics such as soil properties is not limited to advanced science courses. We offer general kits and AP® kits that cover the same topics so you can pick the appropriate one for your class.

This real world-based activity allows students to explore the earth beneath their feet through hands-on investigation of the AP® topics of rock cycle, soil formation, and erosion.

Students learn how rocks are weathered to create soil, analyze soil horizons, determine the slope of the land, identify soil composition, and calculate bulk density. Exercises relate each of these properties to human activities and create links to environmental impacts.

Kit contains materials to lead 24 students through several field and lab activities.
