The presence of coliform bacteria in water is an indicator of pollution from enteric (fecal-type) bacteria. Activities in this kit enable students to test for the presence of E. coli (human and animal enteric bacteria) and total bacteria in water samples collected from a variety of locations. Agar medium for plate and culture tube growth of bacteria is supplied, ready to heat in sterile bottles. Each kit contains 20 sterile petri dishes, 25 sterile culture tubes, plate count agar, EMB/Levine agar, 10 pipets, teacher's guide, and copy master for student guides.
