The amount of organic material in a collected water sample is determined by measuring the oxygen consumed by microorganisms, and by certain chemical processes as decomposition progresses during incubation at constant temperature for 5 days. Kit includes all necessary labware (including six 60-mL BOD bottles), reagents sufficient for approximately 50 dissolved oxygen determinations, and instructions. Incubator not included.
