Grade 2. Students investigate length, capacity, weight (mass), perimeter, area, time, temperature, and money. They use measurement instruments and materials such as thermometers, containers, tape measures, rulers, unit strips, clocks, calendars, and money sets to develop an understanding of measurement systems. Students also analyze the reasonableness of estimates and the appropriateness of tools and units. Writing is an integral part of the lessons.
