Module A: Students explore basic addition and subtraction facts, including the system of tens, through rounding, patterns, and place value. Manipulatives such as counters, connecting cubes, and number lines are used to analyze estimates for reasonableness; ordinal and cardinal numbers are compared; and real-life problem situations are investigated.
Kit B: Students explore place value to 4 digits, compare whole numbers using words and symbols, and build models to represent multiplication and division. Problems are solved with and without regrouping. Number properties, fractions, and probability are explored using spinners, fractional shapes, and number charts, which are included in the kit.
