Module A: Students focus on comparing, reading, and writing whole numbers using various representations. In this unit, students use collections of objects, proportional and nonproportional place-value manipulatives, and number lines to compare and contrast addition and subtraction algorithms; additionally, students compare, represent, and recall multiplication and division facts.
Module B: The focus of this unit is on properties of numbers, divisibility, and probability. Using spinners and other tools, students explore concrete and pictoral models representing decimals and fractions. Problem solving strategies are planned, described, and tested, and the results are analyzed.
