Grade 1. Students create, analyze, describe, and extend repeating patterns. After they analyze patterns for missing elements, students investigate number patterns with manipulatives, number lines, and number charts.
Students sort collections of fasteners by attributes, then gather and display the data in tally tables, simple graphs, and bar graphs. Writing about mathematical thinking is an integral part of the lessons.
