Functional Sarcomere Model
This innovative model illustrates the sliding filament theory of skeletal muscle contraction in a dramatic and understandable manner. Includes a complete sarcomere with the configuration and function of thin filaments (actin, troponin, and tropomyosin) and thick filaments (myosin).
The M-line and Z-line are readily identifiable. Model parts interact to show that individual myofilaments neither change shape nor shorten during muscle contraction, but instead slide past each other to shorten the sarcomere itself.
Includes a transparent sheath representing the sarcoplasmic reticulum and a detailed user manual. Size, 56 × 15 × 20 cm.
