Muscles on left side are color coded with respect to their innervation through peripheral nerves. The upper extremity color-coding is in accordance with Frick-Leonhardt-Starck, and the lower extremity is coded using an analogous system. Extremities of the right side have muscles color-coded according to innervation by spinal nerves or nerve roots; coding is in accordance with T. von Lanz and Wachsmuth for spinal nerves C5 to Th1 or L2 to S3, respectively.
