Electrophoresis of precut DNA with an analytical application. Students cast gels and perform electrophoresis of ready-to-load samples of predigested plasmid DNA. After staining with CarolinaBLU™ stain, students determine the sizes of the plasmid DNA fragments in each sample and use the data to deduce a restriction map of the plasmid.
Kits contain sufficient materials for either 4 or 8 teams of students to perform the exercise.
