Diversity of Life Kit
This kit meets many of the National Science Education Standards in life science. Through reaching an understanding of the Linnaean system, students learn how to classify organisms based on their similarities. Hands-on activities introduce students to the proper techniques for preparing slides, as well as the use of a compound microscope (not included). Students have an opportunity to observe cell structure of representative organisms from all 5 kingdoms. The kit includes a euglena culture, elodea leaves, a packet of yeast, a prepared microscope slide set, and materials for preparing slides and staining cells. Also includes a comprehensive teacher’s manual with reproducible student worksheets, background information, lesson instructions, follow-up activities, and a glossary. Designed for 32 students.
