Students assume the role of crime scene investigators as they use their observational skills and deductive reasoning to solve this realistic crime scenario.

Kit includes the following activities to identify a prime suspect from a list of 6 possible culprits: dusting and lifting fingerprints; examining hair sample; analyzing impressions of tire tracks; blood typing with synthetic blood; determining time of death from entomological evidence(artificial fly larvae or maggots); and reviewing a police interview log of each suspect.

Materials are provided for a class of 30 working in groups of 3. Teacher's manual with student guide, reproducible masters, report forms, and extension activities is also included. Examination of hair requires a low-power microscope (not included).
