The medaka (Oryzias latipes), a hardy freshwater killifish, breeds naturally April to October. To induce breeding in any season, regulate light and temperature for less than 10 days. Fertile egg clusters may be plucked daily from breeding females.
The clear eggs are unsurpassed for demonstrating meroblastic cleavage and typical teleostean development.

Eggs are collected each morning from females breeding in a controlled environment and are shipped as early blastulae. Excellent for studying vertebrate organogenesis and for experimental physiology.
Development is easily observed with a stereomicroscope. Hatched larvae can be reared to adults in small aquaria. With instructions.
