For use in pBLU® transformation experiments. This is a mutant E. coli strain incapable of producing ß-galactosidase, which is necessary for the breakdown of lactose or X-gal, a lactose analog. When these bacteria are transformed with pBLU®, they will break down X-gal (and lactose) and this results in blue colonies. Slant culture.
