Grades 8-12. For a class of 32 students. As they go through their tandem life cycles, the petite, quick-growing Brassica plants and their hardy, natural predator, Pieris rapae, engage in dynamic interactions that are impossible for students to ignore. By exploring the interaction and develppment of plant and butterfly, students learn how real scientific investigations work. Total experiment time varies from 40 to 80 days, depending on whether students raise a second generation. Kit includes evereything needed except water, some grocery store vegetables, sugar, and a light source. We recommend the Plant Light House (15-8994) with Optional Butterfly Screen (15-8994A).
