- Safely view cloud tracks of radiation in a cloud chamber
- Measure half-life using unique apparatus
- Determine the age of a simulated artifact
Grades 9–12. Students discover how to write nuclear equations for spontaneous nuclear decay and induced nuclear reactions. Radioactive half-life simulations enable student groups to graphically analyze and predict half-lives. This knowledge is used to design an experiment that determines the age of a simulated art or archeological artifact through carbon-14 dating.
Part of the Inquiries in Science™ series. Materials are sufficient for 30 students working in groups of 3.
