Periplaneta. Adult size, 3 to 4 cm. Study the ultimate survivalist! There's never a dull moment as students watch how cockroaches live, work, and thrive even in basic conditions. Cockroaches quickly produce large populations, require low maintenance, and maintain a constant activity rhythm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Periplaneta Cockroaches could be healthier This shipment had about 20-30/100 die within 2 days. Pretty normal for cockroaches, but lately others were shipped with no die offs, so I know it can be done. Otherwise worked very well for our sensory lab.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Live Periplaneta Roaches Came on time and very healthy. Unlike usual, there were no dead roaches upon arrival. Will definitely reorder. Pricey, but there isn't much of a choice in vendors for large amounts of roaches I need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to breed The American Cockroach is a well known pest species found in homes/woods/sewers. However roaches raised in captivity are clean and fun to keep. Adults can fly and climb glass/plastic cages, so you need to keep a cover, and what prevents escape is a barrier at the mid top of cage of petroleum jelly or vaseline, they cannot climb over it and thus cant escape. They like moist habitats, you can line the cage with soil (no fertilizer) and some decaying oak leaves and wood decor to hide in, misting the cage daily with a spray bottle of water. Damp (like under rotting logs), but not soaking wet. They eat a variety of foods like apples, bananas, oranges, mango, dog and cat food, romaine lettuce, fresh spinach leaves, white bread, as well as decaying oak leaves, and rotting oak/birch tree bark. Even apple, banana, beef baby food will be devoured. They are scavengers and eat plant and animal matter. If you buy nymphs you can seperate adults if you dont want them breeding, female cockroaches are pregnant for life!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some lived, some died I have placed multiple orders for periplaneta, about 100 roaches total. Unfortunately, I've experienced a fairly high mortality rate, probably about 40-50% w/in the first few days. Cause is unknown. I use a standard setup with water vial, oatmeal, about 25C temp and plenty of places to hide. The ones that live are great, totally functional, but I'm always sad to see nearly half my order kick the bucket a day or two post-arrival =( I would recommend this product to a friend by default--mainly b/c it is the only obvious commercial source I know of.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cockroaches! The roaches came alive, without any mites or other issues that could compromise their health. Shipping was on time also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cockroach Heaven I ordered the roaches for a student's science fair project. They came in 2 days and all were alive. My student finished with them and now I have them in their homes. My other students are so interested in them, it has been amazing. A simple order, sort of, and the critters have my students taking care of them and even talking with them. They arrived in great shape and even had food with them. thanks!
