Rated 4 out of 5 by from fun, engaging, and eye-catching way to teach solar energy I bought this product to enhance my middle school lessons on solar energy. It worked great! You have to choose the right day to do it though -- early morning when the air is cool, but the sun is out and will heat up the air inside. We had fun filling up the bag (silly, silly fun!), and then did some other activities as we waited for the air to heat up. It didn't take long, maybe 15 or 20 minutes. The bag floated impressively about 20 feet high. The kids were impressed. The best part was the unscripted "teachable moment" that came after, as we deflated the bag. A student was standing at the open end as the hot air came rushing out, and they said, "It's like a furnace! Wow!" We all took turns feeling the hot air that came out, amazed that it was the same air we were standing in, heated by the sun in a solar bag. Great demonstration! My only complaints are that the price is a bit high, and you have to be very careful storing it because it's very fragile.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding way to demonstrate solar energy I have used my Solar Bag for four years and it works great every time. I store it in a pillow case. I did get a tear last year but with a little tape I'm back in business. My students are amazed that it floats. They are also surprised how hot it gets. FUN!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Giant Sausage Teaching the effects of the sun and thought this would be a great way to start the lesson. I got to school early in the morning to make sure it was filled with cool air. I fill the bag and after 2 hours in the Florida sun nothing. The most it got off of the ground was a foot. The comments I heard from my students was it looked like a giant sausage, very disappointing. As I went to untie the end so I could pack it up to possibly try again tomorrow the bag ripped so now I have a 45 foot solar bag. Doe not perform like described.
