Rated 5 out of 5 by from They are wonderful toads... I identified the three toads I received as Anaxyrus americanus or hybrids thereof. I was pleased that my group of three included two larger females and and one smaller male. They appeared healthy, alert, and well fed. I do not handle them unless necessary, but I have noted that they haven't engaged in any of there defensive behaviors when handled with care.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Toads were welcomed pets Manny, Moe and Jack looked healthy and were in good condition when they arrived. They have a great appetite; they prefer mealworms over earth worms (sensitive palate).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a great pet! I ordered the eastern American toads and southern toads. Both arrived healthy, plump, and ready to eat. Not all toads were brown, some had red, yellow, or black body coloring which I read is rarer color forms than brown, beautiful looking! I would say the American toads are better for captivity as the southern toads are more shy and less aggressive eaters, plus the American toad can handle wider temperature range. They happily ate earthworms, waxworms, crickets, small mealworms given in limited quantities, and adult flies. I read they need vitamin and calcium powder dusted on prey, and toads like to burrow in substrate and hide and eat at night in the dark. I leave a water bowl in the setup to soak in. They can live 10-15 years I heard and eat a lot so make sure you can commit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful classroom specimens These toads arrived in great shape and adapted well to their new environment. They enjoy crickets and meal worms and are very easy to care for. My 7th grade students are enjoying making observations about the anatomy and behavior of our new pets---highly recommend.
