Rated 5 out of 5 by from Starter kit for 7 year old We bought this as a starter kit for our 7 year old son who is completely into science, biology and dissections. It was absolutely perfect for him!! Nice assortment of different specimens, tools and home schooling type instructional manuals for each specimen. We don't home school, but love to supplement and feed our son's passion for science. Highly recommend this product. We also bought the frog, starfish and cow's eye.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big hit with son I got this kit for my 11 year old son, who became interested in anatomy this fall. He has been completely independent and very interested in the different animals. It is a great introduction for a middle school student. The preserved specimens are definitely more manageable than the squirrel he got for himself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worm was easy to work with We've completed the worm so far. The specimen and the included tools were easy to use and we were able to get good insight on the digestive, circulatory, and reproductive systems of the worm. We homeschool, and a 4th- and 7th grader each had their own worm to work with. The only thing I would add is to use a scalpel (not included) to scrape along the body walls. The scissors was a little cumbersome for that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great combo product The specimens were of more than adequate size (larger than I expected), and were packaged well. The jars that the earthworm and grasshopper came in can be recycled and used for activities or storage. I will purchase these again for next year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Learningfor3 Package was inspected at arrival. Some of the fluid had leaked, but otherwise very clean. Specimens look good and inclusion of tools was a great plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Nice Variety After two years of hints to my wife, I received this kit as my Father's Day present. I had only dissected a fetal pig in high school, and was a bit squeamish back then. I now work in the medical field and wanted to sharpen my anatomy skills as well as expand my knowledge. I have sincerely enjoyed dissecting the earthworm and the grasshopper, and am looking forward to the crayfish and frog. I cannot notice an odor to the specimens, but my two boys, age five and eleven, claim that they can. The specimens are well-preserved and their internal anatomy is visible and easy to access. The tools included in the kit are adequate for the job, and a good value, but if you plan on doing more dissections, you'll want to look at getting better equipment.

Carolina's Perfect Solution Specimens

Carolina's Perfect Solution®—Safe. Convenient. Superior.

Our commitment to producing the finest preserved specimens on the market has led us to Carolina's Perfect Solution®, a unique, revolutionary fixative that is dramatically improving the quality of classroom dissection.

  • No formalin odor
  • No dangerous off-gassing
  • No dark and unnatural appearance

Instead, organisms preserved with Carolina's Perfect Solution® retain more lifelike color and texture. Because students study more natural-looking specimens, it is easier for them to identify the structures and, as a result, learn anatomy.

Carolina's Perfect Solution® specimens are safe and nontoxic, which means you need no special ventilation and there's no costly disposal.
