Zebra fish (Danios) are small, very active, nonaggressive, egg-laying fish with horizontal stripes. The zebra fish is widely used in molecular and developmental genetic engineering studies. Complete with care instructions. Tropical fish such as zebra fish are excellent choices for the classroom aquarium. Our zebra fish are hand-selected for size and health, so you can enjoy them for years to come. Aquaria for these fish require a heater to maintain proper water temperature (75 to 80° F). Pack of 12 females.

How-To & Techniques

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These ladies arrived ready to lay eggs! All 12 of these girls arrived in perfect shape (despite cold shipping weather) and have already laid a batch of eggs that have hatched into baby fish. Warning: Breeding zebra fish during the winter takes more "know how" than the instructions indicate. eg, increasing water temp, increasing light, feeding baby brine shrimp, etc. Also, its best to keep the boys and girls separate and put them together only for breeding.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fish were not healthy I ordered 24 female fish to use as breeders. Three had died overnight after placing them into the aquarium system. Another 6 died over the course of a week. They all had ulcerations on their side typical of a Tb infection. I threw the rest out of the system so they wouldn't contaminate the other HEALTHY fish I have. This aquarium rack system has been fine for the past 2 years. Carolina needs to take better care of the fish they send out. Will never order fish from them again.
