Meets AP® Chemistry experiment 3. This kit uses the classic Dumas method to determine molar mass. Students vaporize an unknown volatile liquid in a flask and measure the mass of the condensed vapor in the flask after cooling. They then measure the flask volume, room temperature, and room pressure. Students use the data and the ideal gas law to calculate the molar mass of the volatile liquid and calculate the percent error against the true value. Kit includes 2 unknown volatile liquids to test.
