Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ive seen better from Carolina I'm not sure what is up but I have bought elodea from Carolina in the past with no problems. I bough this for a demonstration of cytoplasmic streaming. The plants were covered with so much algae that it was hard to find leaves that were unobstructed for viewing the streaming. I'm ordering another batch soon, and I'm hoping it will be better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing The stems were a brownish green, no new growth evident and about 50% of the leaves on the stems were dead and decaying. As a teacher, I've made many purchases from Carolina over the years. This was the first time I've been dissapointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from All brown and Died This Elodea arrived half brown. I tried to salvage it and picked out the brown parts, but they all died and ruined our experiment. I am very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 90% DEAD This did not look like what is in the photo! It was mostly dead & I had to pick out 5 branches that were living.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good enough Most of it stays alive, but could be better - several of the plants died within the first few weeks of use. Order more than you need.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked for my needs, however... I really appreciate the instructional sheets that Carolina provides to accompany their products. However, the plants that I received were mostly brown and black upon arrival. We had enough green leaves for the lab that we conducted, but many of the stems were unusable. Before I ordered, I asked a customer service representative how much I should order, and they recommended 2 packages. If I had not ordered that amount, we would not have had enough usable leaves. On the other hand, had all of the plants been healthy upon arrival, 2 packages would have been far more than what I needed. (Thus, I gave a lower score of value for money.) This is the first time I have been disappointed in an order from Carolina, and hopefully it is an outlier for their great customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for photosynthesis/cellular respiration labs! I love using this product for my botany class to see streaming chloroplasts. I also use this product for my Honors Biology classes to calculate the rate of photosynthesis. I also use it to oxygenate my fish tank!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It depends .. We were disappointed with this product because for the second time in a row the specimens arrived dead or dying. Therefore we were unable to use them for class. The one's we used were minimally useful. WE've decided to go with preserved slides instead.
