Biosmount™ preparation. Explore the anatomy of the freshwater mussel with this unique display. One half of the bivalve's shell has been removed to reveal the latex-injected heart and the labeled internal anatomy. The specimen is secured to the backing and sealed in the acrylic jar. Prior to mounting, the mussel is initially fixed in formalin. Once mounted, the jar is filled with a non-formaldehyde solution, ensuring a completely safe experience for you and your students.
