DNA Chips: Genes to Disease
This microarray simulation introduces students to microarrays, the complexities of gene expression, and the role of gene expression in cancer. Using simulated microarray technology, students compare the relative expression levels of 6 different genes in healthy lung cells and lung cancer cells. Students then discuss the significance of the relative expression levels with respect to the genes' roles in causing cancer. Teacher's manual includes instructions for a bonus dry lab.
