GelGreen®

GelGreen® is a stable, low toxicity stain with sensitivity comparable to ethidium bromide and is non-mutagenic by Ames test. GelGreen's main UV absorption peak is between 250 nm and 300 nm, but it also absorbs well at 500 nm. Thus, DNA stained with GelGreen® can be visualized using a 254 nm UV transilluminator or equipment such as a Dark Reader™, Visi-Blue™, or a 488 nm laser-based scanner.

Stain comes in a 150-µl tube of 10,000x solution. Suggested use is as a 3x solution for post-electrophoresis staining of double- or single-stranded DNA and RNA in agarose gels. The stain can also be used at 1x concentration incorporated into the gel, but this may affect DNA band mobility. Not recommended for use with acrylamide gels.
