Grades 3-5. Why is reading nutrition labels important? This group of interactive whiteboard activities for the STC™ unit, Food Chemistry, helps students learn to read and interpret nutrition labels so they can recognize and make healthy food choices. Students identify the proper physical and chemical tests that are conducted to identify specific food components. They identify and label the parts of the digestive system and utilize science notebooks as they extend their thinking about food chemistry and focus on the diets of zoo and aquarium animals.
