Grade K and up. Pill bugs (which roll up into a ball) and sow bugs (which don't) are small, harmless creatures that are easy to care for and fun to observe. With our complete kit, students explore and compare the behavior and biology of these odd animals, learning about adaptation and ecology.
Hands-on activities stimulate students' curiosity, while at the same time helping them develop skills of observation, experimentation, and description. Minimal equipment and prep time are required.
Kit includes fully equipped 1 1/2-gal terrarium, pill bugs, and sow bugs (15 to 20 of each type), plus a complete set of materials for up to 30 students working in pairs. Instructions, activities, and extensions are also included.
