This is a great starter set for anyone looking to explore and learn more about geology. The introductory set contains 12 different rocks and minerals: crystal quartz, basalt, breccia, biotite gneiss, fluorite, granite, conglomerate, marble, apatite, scoria, sandstone, and slate. The specimens are not labeled but the set comes with a full-color identification card. Each specimen was selected and hand processed by an actual geologist, ensuring it exhibits defining features. The specimens allow students to test features such as luster, hardness, streak color, magnetic properties, and more. While the specimens vary in shape and size, all measure approximately 1". The set is packaged in a storage box.
