DonorsChoose.org is a nonprofit that connects the public to public schools. The platform was founded in 2000 by Charles Best, a history teacher with a passion to help fellow teachers get supplies for their students. Teachers request resources their students need, and donors and partners from across the country fund the projects that most inspire them. Today:

  • Over 80% of all public schools in America have at least one teacher who has posted a project request on DonorsChoose.org
  • 64% of funded project requests are from schools where half or more of students are from low-income households
  • 4 million education supporters have donated to project requests across the country
