Description

Cardiac muscle is found only in the heart and is involuntarily controlled. Like skeletal muscle, the fibers are striated; however, they only contain one nucleus per fiber. Cardiac muscle also contains intercalated discs, which allow for undeviated electrical connection between 2 muscle fibers. This is essential for heart contractions.
